Free speech and Ward Churchill

May 6, 2009

"Ward Churchill wants his job back. To quickly review, before Ward Churchill became a professor, he copied and sold another artist's work under his own name. Then he got a tenured job at the University of Colorado, Boulder, without appropriate credentials, on the pretext that he is American Indian. He is not."

FTS Humor: Senate Slime is Spreading

Face The State Humor

April 6, 2009

By Andrew Ripemoff

A heavy snow system brought so much of the white stuff to the front range late last month that Denver was issued a Severe Storm Alert. Although we avoided a secondary storm this past weekend, the state Capitol has just been issued a Severe Scum Alert. And here, I’m talking about some of the people walking around with the title of Senator before their name.

Scholars group decries Churchill verdict

April 3, 2009

"“Anything goes” in college classrooms: that’s the message of Ward Churchill’s legal victory this week, according to Stephen Balch of the National Association of Scholars.

Balch said the win for Churchill, whom he called “the poster boy for academic irresponsibility,” worsens the disconnect between the academic freedom’s obligations and its protections."

Legal experts: Churchill attorney wisely chose young jurors

Churchill takes the stand

March 23, 2009

"Oh God, with an eagle feather on red fabric next to him. According to the Camera, he's spouting bullshit about--er, contextualizing--his "little Eichmanns" essay. You know the drill: "He said if you make it a 'practice of killing other peoples' babies for your own personal gain, that eventually, they are going to give you a taste of the same thing.'""

Churchill trialpalooza roundup

March 10, 2009

"Drunkablog made the rounds this morning in Civic Center park ("Save Ward!" rally) and the Denver City and County building for the jury selection, but not much was going on . . . yet.

Looking at the Left has more reflections on the Churchill kerfuffle, and kook-aid guzzling Ben Whitmer soldiers on in his support of his idol mentor."

Owens shows a little sympathy for Churchill

February 6, 2009

"In a deposition, former Governor Bill Owens says he was glad the University of Colorado didn’t immediately fire professor Ward Churchill, as Owens (pictured) had urged, in the wake of a controversial essay about the 9/11 terrorist attacks that triggered national outrage when it came to the media’s attention in 2005.

That’s according to the Rocky Mountain News, which reports that Owens feels that had Churchill been fired, Churchill’s free-speech rights would have been violated."

Ward Churchill joins Facebook

December 22, 2008

"The fake-Indian ex-professor is a happenin' dude, ain't he? I actually joined the wretched thing myself to see his profile, but it turns out I have to be his "friend" too, and I can't bring myself to do it. He'd probably (poorly stifled sob) turn me down, anyway. It also looks like it might be a Wart Churchill Stolidarity Network production, and certainly Tommy "Tater Trot" Mayer wouldn't let me on.

Where in the world is Betsy Hoffman?

December 2, 2008

Betsy Hoffman

Whatever happened to former University of Colorado President Betsy Hoffman?

After resigning in March 2005 amid seemingly endless turmoil - including CU's nationally watched football recruiting scandal, CU Professor Ward Churchill calling Sept. 11th victims “little Eichmanns,” and her embarassing state legislative testimony where she described a derogatory reference to the female body as a "term of endearment", Hoffman fell off Colorado's political radar.
