Rep. Roberts launches state Senate bid

State Rep. Ellen Robets, R-Durango, launched a campaign for Senate District 6 Thursday.

The district covers the southwest corner of Colorado, and Roberts already represents about half of the Senate district in the state House. SD 6 is one of the geographically largest districts in the state and covers eight counties: Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma, Montrose, Ouray, San Juan and San Miguel.

SD 6 seat will be tough for Dems to hold

"When Republicans look at state Legislature seats they could reasonably hope to take over in the 2010 election cycle, Senate District 6 probably will be their starting point, according the seat’s current holder.

“It’ll be a difficult seat for the Democrats to hold,” Sen. Jim Isgar, D-Hesperus, said. “It depends on the candidates, of course.”"
