In Tuesday's Senate Transportation Committee meeting senators voted 4-3 to indefinitely postpone a bill that would have prevented railroad companies from exercising their right to use eminent domain. The bill was in response to CDOT's forthcoming proposal to relocate freight rail away from the Front Range and to eastern Colorado in order to facilitate the implementation of passenger rail systems in the metro area. Trapped in the middle of this legislation were railroad companies, who expressed little desire to relocate or use eminent domain.

"Sen. Greg Brophy said first Democrats killed his bills, and then one stole his bike. How's that again?
The Wray Republican said he rode his bike to downtown Denver last night and cabled it. Someone took it. He doesn't know who took it, but is certain the thief is a Democrat because Denver's full of Democrats. "This is Hickenlooper's fault," Brophy said, referring to Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. "I bet whoever took my bike voted for Obama."

"So I’ve heard the State Capitol has become a rough place these days (yes, Denver truly is the Wild West!), but I had no idea it had come to this, as disclosed in the Headline of the Week: “Brophy bill to protect homeowners killed in committee”.

My first thought was, How many homeowners have been killed in committee meetings lately? I especially have reason to be concerned, seeing as how I plan to be under the golden dome tomorrow to speak on a new media/blogger luncheon panel to the Senate GOP Caucus."
