Here We Go Again: "Nuisance" Ordinances

Andrew Boucher deconstructs a litany of new rules and restrictions for rental properties in the City of Fort Collins, including "insect screens from April 1 to Nov. 1, minimum heating capability of 65 degrees, emergency escape and rescue windows," according to the Coloradoan. He writes, "What about in older houses where getting one room up to 65 degrees requires the rest of the house to be set at 80? What about unused rooms? What about the energy costs?" Good question.

The City Clerk is reporting that Fort Collins voters yesterday struck down a collective bargaining proposal by a margin of nearly three-to-one. The results from Monday's special election mark the third time in the last five years that unions have failed in their electoral efforts to unionize public workers here.
