It was soon after the mass production of the automobile that the state realized there needed to be roads.

So they built them. Many roads. Bridges too. And they were vital to society. Then the Colorado state government began charging a car registration fee to maintain this new transportation infrastructure.

Republicans want FASTER to move slower

"State Senate Republicans today put up a fight aimed at making Democrats’ big transportation funding bill known as FASTER slow down a little.

The bill, which raises more than $200 million a year for road and bridge projects by raising annual vehicle registration fees, has cleared two legislative committees by narrow, party-line votes. This morning, Senate Appropriations Committee chairman Sen. Abel Tapia, D-Pueblo, told senators that the committee would hear FASTER in a special meeting Monday morning.
