Over the weekend, The Denver Post reported Rep. Buffie McFadyen, D-Pueblo West, would like to see the creation of a federal lobbyist to represent the state of Colorado in Washington. A main purpose: ensuring Colorado gets its cut of all the stimulus dollars flowing through Washington - and being printed - right now.

GOP gets buzzed over 3.2 beer

In coming weeks, a duo of state legislators, including Sen. Jennifer Veiga, D-Denver, and Rep. Buffie McFadyen, D-Pueblo, will introduce a bill to eliminate 3.2 beer sales, meaning all local grocery and convenience stores with 3.2 beer licenses will see them converted to allow full-strength sales. Grocery and convenience stores lobbying for the bill are labeling it a free market measure, but some Republicans are claiming the free market doesn't apply in this case.

"Tired of congestion on Interstate 70 when traveling from the Western Slope to the Front Range? Well, state lawmakers might be interested in improving U.S. Highway 50 as a viable alternative, according to a report in The Pueblo Chieftain.

State Rep. Buffie McFadyen, D-Pueblo West, told the newspaper: “We have to look at improvements on traffic and highway flow on U.S. 50 to supplement I-70 as a major commercial corridor.”

Other lawmakers have mulled such a solution as recently as March, but it never took off."
