A bill to collect DNA from individuals arrested for felonies has Republicans split over whether it reflects a commonsense approach to law enforcement or a dangerous expansion of government power.

Senate Bill 241, if passed, would enter the collected DNA samples into a state database maintained by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Following a string of Face The State investigative reports showing CU chancellor pay to be among the highest in the country, Fox 31 News in Denver spoke Wednesday with state Sen. Bill Cadman, R-Colorado Springs, who called for spending restraint at the University.

Cadman tells Bradford she crossed the line...into his parking space

"There hasn't been this much infighting among the GOP since the Beauprez-Holtzman gubernatorial match up. OK, that's an exaggeration but the parking wars at the Capitol have been fun to follow.

Sen. Bill Cadman, R-Colorado Springs, parks in space 146 on the Capitol's north side. He said he can barely get his Ford F150 in his space, thanks to Rep. Laura Bradford, R-Mesa County.
Bradford, he said, has parking issues.
"She crossed the line," he joked.
"He needs a smaller car," she fired back.

Republicans now say they are ready to fight back and while the money chase will be tough, leaders say they are putting together a ground game that will, in part, exploit a multitude of fee and tax increases passed by the Democrat-led legislature.
