A sign on the former Eastin Gallery and Studio at 14863 Colo. 7 in Allenspark, advertises the “Patterson XXX Porn Gallery.” Owners Jeff and Vicki Mead say they’ve been forced to go into the pornography industry after the county shut down their ATV rental business there, but they deny naming the business after neighbors Glenn and Margie Patterson, who were vocal opponents of the business.
A Niwot couple says opening a pornography shop in Allenspark is the only way they can make money there after Boulder County commissioners denied their application to store and rent out ATVs instead.
But some nearby neighbors say plans by Jeff and Vicki Mead to open the "Patterson XXX Porn Gallery" by mid-August are aimed at causing more controversy in the small mountain town.
One neighboring couple, Glenn and Margie Patterson, says the gallery is even named after them because of their criticism of the ATV business — a charge the Meads denied.
The shop of pornographic merchandise and artwork will take the place of the former Eastin Gallery and Studio in a two-story log cabin on Colorado 7.
"Allenspark is the most pornographic place I've ever seen," Mead said. "It's a town where half the people are paying attention to the other half's business. I thought it would fit right in."

The Kirlins should open up a septic tank service and name it after Richard McLean and Edith Stevens, the two land thieves.

Since you mentioned loud motorcycles.
I live in rural Boulder County. This time of year whenever I hear loud Harley pipes (all frickin’ weekend) driving by my house; (my house as in where I live), in what I hope to be peace and quiet, not in an idiotic pointless 'my penis is really small' rumble,
I can't help think of the final scene in 'Easy Rider'. It seemed pointless to me back when I first saw it. But now it makes perfect sense. Grow up and put a muffler on the damn thing!

The woods around Allenspark are already overrun by ATV riders who own their own and haul 'em in. The last thing the area needed was some low-brow trailer trash renting them out. The Mead's are showing their true colors. The neighbors and other members of the Allenspark community were 100% within their rights to express their opinions about a business they knew was detrimental to the community. The porn "art studio'? Go for it, fools! It'll die a natural death in less than a year.
The Meads are idiots, they paid far too much for the building and business a few years ago, and in the current market, it's worth even less. If they had done their homework they would have known that an ATV rental business would have a hard time in that mountain community. Allenspark will be far better off after these flat-lander speculators move on.......

There are no guarantees you will be able to do what you want wherever you choose to live.

So, JustSayin, you're from Allenspark I assume by your comments. Well, normally I would frown upon people like the Meads bringing pornography to a nice community, but if you are reflection of the attitudes and aggressive behavior of the community residents - then more power to them.

JustSayin - why would an ATV rental facility not thrive in a mountain community?
That is where most people recreate with them, correct?
It also sounds like recreational ATV riding is already well established in the area and quite popular according to your post.
I'm with MrNiceGuy - I hope you find porn junkies wringin' one out in the woods with some top notch Club International rather than allowing others to rent vehicles to recreate in a manner that their pocket books may not allow them to do with there own ATVs.
Just another liberal thug crying it out because someone else's agenda doesn't fall in line with their's.

"why would an ATV rental facility not thrive in a mountain community?" My post referenced 'that' community, Allenspark. I think the denial of the special-use permit speaks volumes, and indicates the Meads didn't do their homework about county regulations and community support for their business - which was my point.
"It also sounds like recreational ATV riding is already well established in the area and quite popular" You bet, the area is fully saturated.
And am I surprised to hear support for a porn business being expounded as a conservative value!

I used to live near the Bluebird Theater, on Colfax and Adams. The theater is now a concert venue, but used to be a porn video shop/theater. Most of the neighbors would prefer the porn shop....the customers sneak in, sneak out, don't make any noise to attract unnecessary attention. The concert goers pee in the lawns, throw beer bottles in the bushes, throw up on the sidewalk and occasionally pass out in the gutters. Bring back the porn shop!

What (if they actually have jobs) type of business are the Pattersons in? If they own a business, the posts who support the Meads should boycott.
