Nineteen submissions for charter schools or innovation schools were received by Denver Public Schools under the district's request for proposal process, officials announced today.The proposals range from a math, science, engineering school run by the Denver Classroom Teachers Association to a high school focused on medical training.
Final proposals are due May 16.
The district had issued a formal request for proposals last month, specifically seeking high-quality middle year programs and alternative schools.
The programs will likely be for the 2009-10 school year. The district was seeking charter school proposals and also innovative schools, which will fall under the district's purview.

Eight of the submissions are charter schools and eight are innovation schools. Three are unknown.
