DENVER - After an investigation by the Associated Press identified thousands of dollars in suspicious expenses submitted by members of the Colorado Board of Education, FOX 31 has discovered a new set of expenses raising new questions. Brad Jones of the on-line journal FacetheState.Com, says expense report documents show over four hundred dollars billed to tax payers to replace an airline ticket that board member Bill Moloney simply lost. One expense was $15 dollars for a Batman Returns t-shirt. Other documents show $168 for three steak dinners at the Brown Palace Hotel, and over $2,300 dollars for 17 steak dinners at a Telluride restaurant. The issue for Jones is what he says is a lack of oversight in how board members submit their expenses. State Senator Steve Johnson is proposing new procedures to screen the expenses submitted. The state's auditor's office is also looking at the last 5 years worth of epense reports. |
