Petition-rights activist Paul Jacob had been indicted by the Oklahoma Attorney General for the high crime of helping to organize a citizen initiative to limit taxation. A federal appeals court recently ruled against the state, but the case is a sad reminder of government's resistance to grassroots involvement in the political process. Jacob also reacts to the failure of Colorado's Referendum O, which would have made it more difficult for citizens to gain access to the state ballot.
