Is Sen. Michael Bennet for or against growing the national debt? It depends, what day is it?
More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.
Last week, John Hickenlooper couldn't settle on the definition of a tax. Now, Sen. Michael Bennet is attempting a similar tap dance on spending. In my hands I hold three news reports: Here's a Bennet press release saying he wants to freeze federal spending. But just last April, he voted against a measure that would have done much of what he now says he supports. And here's a report showing him voting to increase the national debt to over $14 trillion. So which is it, Sen. Bennet? We can't have it both ways. The vote to increase the debt passed with not a vote to spare, meaning Bennet could have halted the spending spree. But he didn't, and actions always speak louder than words - or flowery press releases.
