Just a week after Republicans rally around a platform, is it already losing steam?
More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.
Just a week ago, Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott McInnis announced his so-called "Platform for Prosperity," a plan he hoped would unify the party around his candidacy. But that unity may be short-lived. McInnis is toning down his stance on repealing Ritter-era tax hikes, including a big increase to vehicle registration fees. He says rolling back the just-enacted law might not be politically practical, at least right away. Budget hawks like Kent Lambert, state Representative from Colorado Springs, quickly rebuked, saying repeal should remain a high priority. Like I said last week, McInnis' new platform is an opportunity for proving his conservative credentials. Democrats will of course fight him on lowering taxes, but that shouldn't stop the GOP front-runner from making it his goal.
