11/23: The GOP's unified front
Will a unified platform benefit the GOP in 2010?
More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.
We've talked a lot recently about the 2010 race for governor, and the ever-shifting Republican field in particular. If the news reports are accurate, front-runner for the GOP nomination Scott McInnis will announce this week his backing of a unified platform for the election cycle. This so-called "Contract for Colorado" is pretty standard conservative fare, promising lower taxes, domestic energy production and responsible budgeting. Notably absent are any divisive social issues that might split the base. McInnis faces a challenge in winning over the grassroots who favored state Senate Minority Leader Josh Penry. The platform is a first step in proving McInnis' conservative credentials, but he must now make a convincing case that he's committed to carrying it out if he's elected.
