7/21: Stapleton doubles Kennedy's fundraising
Political fundraising numbers are out - and state treasurer Cary Kennedy is behind.
More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.
Democrat state Treasurer Cary Kennedy was caught off guard last quarter by upstart Republican challenger Walker Stapleton who brought in twice as much campaign cash as she. Not a good start to the 2010 election cycle if she wants to keep the seat.
While the treasurer’s race is down ticket and can easily fly under the radar, Stapleton’s strong showing has made this a competitive battle early on. Kennedy will also have to own up to her handling of the failing state budget. She recently told a state panel, “We have put this plane on autopilot, and the weather has changed.”
It's time to take the budget off of autopilot. It might also be to her benefit to take the campaign off cruise control, as well.
