7/1: Not too stimulating
Just how stimulating is the federal stimulus bill?
More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.
What's the matter? Not feeling simulated by the federal stimulus package? You're not the only one. The Colorado Department of Transportation recently released a report on the number of jobs created or sustained as a result of the stimulus package. The grand total so far? A whopping 65. That's right, the stimulus can only claim to have created or "sustained" a meager 65 construction jobs, and this is peak construction season!
An analysis of the stimulus act nationally found it was based on "soft statistics" predicated on "educated guesswork." If the CDOT numbers are correct, the stimulus act is doing far more to increase the national debt than it is to helping replace the 83,000 Colorado jobs lost in the last year.
