It sure must be nice being an elected official, especially when the taxpayers pick up the tab for your personal expenses.
More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.
Lots of families have some type of Internet connection in their home. A high-speed link to the net is becoming as ubiquitous as the family room TV set. And for State Board of Education chairwoman Pamela Jo Suckla, the taxpayers pick up the tab.
You heard me right - you and I pay nearly $50 a month for Suckla to surf the web. Admittedly, that’s not a lot of money, but it is a questionable use of taxpayers’ hard-earned cash.
Face The State blew the whistle last year lavish spending by the Board, which included $2,000 dinners, limo rides and lots of expensive travel. In light of that news, lawmakers slashed the Board’s administrative budget, starting this fiscal year. Most of the big-ticket spending has since been curbed, but Suckla continues to enjoy the perks of her position.
