It’s only July 14th, but are you already on politics overload?
More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.
Does election season really ever come to an end? It feels as if the presidential campaign has been dragging on since, well, the last inauguration! But ballots will finally – mercifully – be cast in this year’s election as soon as this month. That’s because voting by mail has taken root with many voters – and because ballots hit homes earlier, so do the political ads.
If you don’t own a TV station, you probably aren’t always happy with politicians hitting the airwaves, lobbing accusations at one another during your favorite shows. But they’re here to stay, and the political ads will only grow in number and intensity.
But do they move votes? Would you admit to choosing your candidates based on what you hear in a 30 second ad? For me, the barrage of political advertising has more entertainment value, but for candidates of either party, they’re no substitute for doing your homework.
For FaceTheState.com, I’m Brad Jones.
