7/7: Ritter's junket to Spain
Where in the world is Governor Bill Ritter? Oh, that’s right – he just left for Spain! And all on your dime.
More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.
Strike three for Governor Bill Ritter. Strike one: A Friday afternoon executive order issued last November authorizing government employees the right to collective bargaining. He then skips town over the weekend to avoid questions. Strike two: The Governor quietly signs the controversial Senate Bill 200, again on a Friday afternoon.
Now, strike three. Last Thursday, Ritter announced he’s taking a trip to Spain – starting today. What’s more, Face The State has confirmed the junket is funded out of tax money. He’s there with a staff of three, ostensibly to promote international investment in Colorado’s alternative energy sector. We had questions for him, but he’d already conveniently already left for the July 4th holiday. But as the pattern shows, that was his plan – skip town when nobody’s looking, and avoid those pesky questions.
