Is anyone surprised? The bulk of the money being spent to fight a free-market ballot initiative this fall is coming from - you guessed it - out of state.
More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.
Here’s the facts. Voters will consider a proposal on November’s ballot that would prohibit mandatory union membership as a condition of employment. Predictably, labor unions leaders aren’t happy about that prospect and have stepped up to oppose the measure. But while proponents are working hard to mobilize Colorado’s business community to support the measure, big labor is busy collecting hundreds of thousands in campaign donations from labor unions all across America, from California to Washington, D.C.
It’s one thing to use Colorado union members’ dues for politics in-state. But as all this out-of-state cash shows, labor bosses are more than happy to spend their members’ hard-earned money anytime, anywhere, so long as it furthers their political aims.
From California to Colorado, with lots of labor union pride.
