5/12: Big money to buy votes this November

Get ready for a heated campaign season – and I’m not talking about the presidential race, either.

More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.

If you thought the presidential race was going to be heated this fall – and it will be, for sure – that’s just the tip of the political iceberg.

TV and radio stations will be flooded with advertising not just for big candidate races, but on some contentious ballot proposals, too. Recent campaign finance reports show big national labor unions have already kicked in more than a million dollars to finance campaigns aimed at tightening restrictions on small businesses, already struggling in a lagging economy.

The unions know their ideas aren’t popular with voters, so they’re hoping the lavish advertising budget puts them over the top in November.

That huge infusion of out-of-state money is aimed at buying your vote. But Colorado’s voters aren’t for sale, although the special interests are surely out to try and prove otherwise this fall.

For FaceTheState.com, I’m Brad Jones.
