Before Josh Rael was one of Colorado's Hottest Politicos and well on his way toward becoming a successful lobbyist, he was melting hearts on stage with his big brown eyes and handsome smile. This Grammy-nominated singer got his start performing the National Anthem at baseball games. He graduated to performing for governors, senators, and even former President Bill Clinton. When not behind the mic singing, Rael maintained a passion for politics and policy. While a law student at Denver University, he worked as a legislative aide from 2004 to 2006. After graduation, he took a job with Capitol Success Group. Face The State caught up with Rael on the 10th floor of the historic D&F Clock Tower, where he was relaxing in his pristine office.

What's hot?

The iPhone. It’s the coolest thing I’ve ever come across. It’s great for everything except making phone calls.

Negative Budget Supplementals and Boots with the fur

Describe your personal style.

Grey pinstripe suits with my firm’s signature gold pin on the lapel.

Cherry Creek and wherever I can afford on my budget.

What are the top 3 artists/songs on your iPod?

1. Michael Buble 2. Justin Timberlake 3. Ella Fitzgerald

What are you up to?

Aside from shadowing the Joint Budget Committee on behalf of clients, I fill my spare time with other careers. I'm working on a new album this summer and run a talent agency - Ardent Works Entertainment - with my business partner, who also happens to be a Denver Nuggets cheerleader.

Predictions for 2009?

I'm worried about the economy. We need to do our best to stay afloat right now. The legislature’s capabilities will be limited next session, and with the budget the way it is there is no room for new services.
