A Republican lawmaker today filed a campaign finance complaint against Gov. Bill Ritter's inaugural committee, following revelations last week that company's funds were used to pay for campaign expenses in violation of state elections law.

A Face The State Investigation has discovered the Foothills Parks and Recreation District broke state campaign law when it urged a "yes" vote on a tax increase question in its Summer program catalog. In a letter to residents from the district's board of directors, voters are urged to "Vote Yes to invest in a healthy community."

At a Capitol hearing on his alleged ethics violation this week, state Sen. Abel Tapia, D-Pueblo, told his fellow legislators, “We all have ties, particularly if we have lives.” Perhaps true, but for the rest of us, our “ties” don’t result in half-million dollar contracts.
