Clinton Fundraising Scandal Now Extends to Udall Camp
Norman Hsu Allegedly Funneled Money Through Front-Men to Exceed Contribution Limits
Face the State Staff Report
WASHINGTON – New revelations suggest that Hillary Clinton's campaign team may not be alone in facing allegations that a top fundraiser has broken campaign finance laws. U.S. Rep. Mark Udall, a Boulder Democrat now running for U.S. Senate, is now being implicated in the scandal involving fundraiser Noman Hsu.
Face the State has learned that in a recent campaign finance filing, Udall’s Senate campaign committee, “Colorado for Udall,” reported a $1,000 June donation from Hsu. A copy of the filing is available here.
The Wall Street Journal first reported this week that Hsu, a New York resident and a “HillRaiser” fundraiser tasked with raising $100,000 for Clinton’s presidential bid, may be using a family in Daly City, CA to break campaign finance laws. Questions also persist regarding Hsu’s legal troubles dating to 1991 when he failed to appear on charges of swindling investors out of more than $1 million.
Hsu is accused of using William and Alice Paw, Chinese immigrants who now live in a home Hsu once occupied, to funnel donations to various Democrat candidates. Since 2004, the Journal reports that the couple and four of their family members - described by a local election official as having voted "sporadically" - have given more than $200,000 to campaigns. Prior to that year, they are reported as never having given to a single federal campaign. William Paw earns roughly $49,000 a year. Alice Paw is a homemaker.
Under Federal law, it is illegal to conceal the true identity of a federal campaign donor by reimbursing a third party for campaign contributions.
Phone inquiries to the Udall campaign were not returned by press time.

This could get ugly for Udall
Your story got picked up by one of the local blogs at: http://schaffervudall.blogspot.com/2007/08/udall-camp-recipient-of-confe...
I'm not sure what all the implications will be of this, because it looks like the investigation into Hsu is just beginning. But it doesn't look good for Udall, for sure. He has a pretty clean image, but taking money from this character will wipe off a lot of the shine for some people. It may not be a big deal in Boulder to take dirty money from China, but I can tell you it doesn't play well in most of the rest of the state. And this thing could only get uglier as we learn more facts.
Udall should either give back the money......
....or resign. I have no doubt that what's happening is Chinese government money being sent through Hsu and Paw to influence American politics. So anyone who knowingly takes the money is a traitor, and should be treated as such.
Udall and the media
I wonder what else we'll learn about Udall. He always stays out of scandals but maybe this is just the beginning. I hope FTS stays on this. . . .
