COLORADO'S FRONTPAGE

Face the State

State Rep. Wrong on "Slut" Comment

February 7, 2008

At a Capitol hearing yesterday, state Rep. Larry Liston, R-Colo. Springs, referred to teen mothers and fathers as "sluts." According to a Colorado Springs Gazette report, he added, "in my parents age, they were sent away, they were shunned, they were called what they are. There was a least a sense of shame."

No rational adult wants to see unmarried teens become pregnant, but what would Liston advocate once they are pregnant? Certainly not abortion.

While teen parenting is not an ideal situation, teens who commit to giving birth--and then to either giving the baby up for adoption or raising it themselves, deserve not to be shamed. Instead, they should be applauded by pro-lifers for having the courage to resist the silent alternative of abortion.

Shame on you, Rep. Liston.

Liston is a total idiot.

The only reason he ever got into office was because he was a complete suckup to his predecessor and to party officials. He's just been a disgrace waiting to happen......and now it has.

Terrible!! What is he

Terrible!! What is he thinking??
