Activists converged on the west steps of the Capitol this morning under the banner of Recreate 68, a group protesting the dominant parties and alleging that Democrats and Republicans don’t represent the people.

Media Outnumber Protesters

Reporters outnumbered protesters at the 9 a.m. Recreate 68 rally. Photographers and cameramen dominated the font row as R68’s leader Glenn Spagnuolo praised the protesters courageous enough to show despite alleged police scare tactics.

Protester Sunsara Taylor, a member of the communist party, agreed the small number of protesters showed up despite the “huge amount of militarized police presence.” On the uneventful march to the Pepsi Center, police clad in riot gear stood in large groups under the shade as Rockies fans headed to today’s game.

Taylor also spoke to Face The State about the “epidemic of police murder directed at black people.” She believes that electing a black president will not solve this alleged problem and is advocating for a communist revolution. Taylor labeled Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama’s notion of change “hype and illusion.”

Fox News Group Swarmed by Protesters

Radical demonstrators swarmed Fox News reporter Griff Jenkins as he was attempting to interview Aaron “The Pie Man” Kay, who is famous for pasting prominent politicians in the face with cream pies. The crowd was yelling “Fuck Fox News” and “Fox News is the mouthpiece for the White House.” Jenkins and his cameraman attempted to remove themselves from the throng, but were followed by taunting activists throughout the morning.
