Let's give credit where credit is due. We've been tough on Sen. Bill Cadman, R-Colorado Springs, for his sponsorship of HB 1332, which would significantly limit the number of legislative documents available to the press and the public under Colorado's open-records law.

But Cadman had a change of heart late Monday when he withdrew his name from the bill, a move we applaud ahead of a legislative hearing on the proposal this Thursday. We're still not thrilled about his initial decision to act as Senate sponsor, but given the bill's primary sponsor, Rep. Rosemary Marshall, D-Denver, pulls weight as a committee chair in the House, she should have little difficulty securing a Senator to take his place.
U-turns in politics aren't always a bad thing. Kudos to Bill Cadman for making the right decision on this one.
