The Rocky Mountain Alliance of Bloggers has taken its political commentary to the (Internet) airwaves of BlogTalkRadio and is now producing a live weekly show.
While the "alliance" label and savvy use of new media may make this appear to be a device of Colorado's well-funded political left, don't be fooled.
The program's primary host is Republican blogger Joshua Sharf, who launched it during his unsuccessful bid for state House earlier this year. Despite a bruising loss in his Democrat-heavy Denver district, Sharf remains committed to watering Republican grassroots in Colorado.
Sharf’s first step was developing his radio show - formerly a tool for self promotion - into various segments during which he and other hosts, together with show guests, bat around the news of the week, critique the mainstream media, and talk politics.
“I had so much fun doing it during the campaign and found it to be an effective way to reach people,” said Sharf. “Extending it to the Denver bloggers seemed like the right way to go.”
"El Presidente" of Slapstick Politics and Independence Institute policy analyst Ben DeGrow are among the program’s co-hosts. Sharf hopes the movement will continue to grow as it facilitates exposure for the participating bloggers.
While it is clear our blogger friends still have a few kinks to work out, they managed to draw nearly 50 live listeners for the premier, and over 100 people downloaded the show after it aired.
Interested in the next show? Tune in live tonight and every Tuesday night at 9 p.m.
