"When it comes to Colorado's budget crisis, Rep. Cheri Gerou says the first step is admitting the state has a problem.

Gerou, R-Evergreen, said today during a meeting of the Long-Term Fiscal Stability Commission that the state's current budget woes might actually be therapeutic. The state faces a more than $300 million shortfall in the current budget year, and likely could see a bigger revenue hole next year."

Personhood amendment moves another step closer to the ballot

"Abortion opponents are one step closer to putting a “personhood amendment” on the 2010 ballot after the title of their proposal was approved today.

The next step is getting approval for the language on petition forms, and then gathering 76,047 valid voter signatures over the next six months.

The proposal differs from the 2008 “personhood amendment” that failed, Leslie Hanks, vice president of Colorado Right to Life."
