Dave Williams is the Legislative Director for the Libertarian Party of Colorado and a member of several other libertarian-leaning ventures, such as the Independence Institute, SAFER, and Sensible Colorado. This time, the government will get it right. They promise.

'I don't think Denver Post columnist Tina Griego would disagree with being characterized as "liberal."

But even she, inherently, understands the problem with government control of any program. In today's column, "Panel's hard knocks may open doors," she writes:

"I've spent too much time in poor neighborhoods watching people drown in myriad contradictory and confusing government policies..."

And yet, knowing this, and acknowledging this, liberals want the same government to take over health care in the entire country."

Talk about out of touch with reality

August 15, 2009

"According to the Denver Post, at a recent town hall on health care, Senator Michael Bennet "used Veterans Affairs as an example of a public insurance program that is working for one group of people."

So he wants all of us to be able to get medical care like that given at Walter Reed Hospital, where "Soldiers face neglect, frustration at Army's top medical facility.""

Let's put these people in charge of health care, too

August 7, 2009

"According to the Denver Post story "Personal data sent in error," the Colorado Department of Corrections accidentally released "the personal financial records of more than 1,000 staff to more than 100 co-workers."

But don't worry. Once the government takes over all of your medical records, that information will be just as safe."

"Scott McInnis and Josh Penry are the two front runners for the Republican nomination for Colorado governor.

McInnis is 56. Penry is 33.

Penry gets some support because he is young. McInnis has a consistent line he uses to counter this aspect of Penry's appeal."

"From today's Denver Post article, "Millions in Colo. phone subsidies doled out in error."

The monthly discount of up to $16.50 is supposed to cease when a recipient is off welfare. But that hasn't happened because the state Department of Human Services, which certifies to telecoms that someone is eligible for the subsidy, hasn't checked the names since at least 2005, according to state and federal records.

I have no doubt the government was going to get around to checking those names sooner or later. They are busy, you know."

There is no state or local governmet "budget crisis"

August 13, 2009

'Despite the gnashing of teeth by elected officials at the state and local levels, there is no budget crises.

There is only the poor use of existing funds.

The Denver Post details the state's prosecution of a group of friendly poker players.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation has enough money to spend its time investigating local poker tournaments.

Therefore, the CBI has plenty of money. Too much, in fact.

The Weld County District Attorney's office agreed to prosecute the poker players.

Therefore, the D.A. has plenty of money. Too much, in fact.'

Proud to be on the White House "Dissident List"

August 6, 2009

"Dear Minister of Propaganda,

As per your request, I'd like to report an American citizen to you for daring to exercise his First Amendment rights and speak out against Barack Obama's attempted political takeover of medicine.

I am reporting myself.

Not only do I believe that political interference in medicine is wrong and impractical, but I've told many other people about my views, and I intend to repeat this grave offense again today.

Not a dime's worth of difference

July 30, 2009

"The Democrats and Republicans are already gearing up for the statewide elections in 2010. The Libertarian Party of Colorado is recruiting candidates to give people an actual choice.

We know the Democrats favor state action and control over your wages, the economy, and your life. The only thing that differentiates them from the Republicans is that the Democrats are honest about it."

A note from Natalie Menten

July 23, 2009

"Thanks, Natalie. The Denver Post editorial to which she refers is "Clerks postcard politics a petty use of tax money."

Today's Denver Post editorial slammed the Park and Moffat County Clerks for offering customers a comment card for Gov. Ritter about the increased registration fees and late fees.

The Post stated it was a partisan ploy, as both Clerks are republicans, and an inappropriate use of taxpayer money."
