The mood at the Republican’s Election Night Party grew solemn as results started to filter in. Hundreds of volunteers, campaign staff and candidates watched their dreams and careers squashed as Colorado turned blue and chose Barack Obama for President and Mark Udall for the state's next Senator.
But when Republican Senate candidate Bob Schaffer conceded the election, he inspired a rare moment of hope among the heartbroken crowd. “Good campaigns don’t end on Election Day,” he said. “Win or lose, if the ideas matter, if the values are real, if the vision is clear - we just keep right on going.”
Schaffer reminded the crowd there are 730 days until the next election, and the Republican Party should use that time to cultivate its new leaders.
